For my school, I need to take 2 years of 1 language and 4 of another. I'm taking 4 of Russian, and it's very easy to me. But I don't know if I should take 2 of Chinese or Latin. If you don't think I should take either, my school also offers Japanese (which i took a boring year of), Spanish (which everyone takes), French (which I hate), German (which would be fun but a lot of people take it), and Arabic.

Which one and why? I would pick Chinese because there are more things Chinese around me than Japanese. I could also speak Chinese in Chinatown and stuff. LOL.

I am studying Chinese and writing; do ALL Chinese words; ie., ai or ang all have five different meanings depending on the stroke 1,2,3,4, (5) over them. I have of a listing of about 400 words; (Dolch words in Chinese ;) but if each has 5 tone marks HELP It gets harder and harder to learn Chinese. Does anyone have some good ways to learn Chinese?

It is more like I want to say that I don't have a living room for my (non existent) sofa to be in. (Before I wrote about having a sofa and big white cat that slept on it. But, I don't have the sofa. I don't have a cat.). I don’t know whether the Chinese grammar in this sentence is right or not. I need someone who is really good at Chinese grammar to answer my question.

Would Chinese learning benefit my future if I want to do business internationally, or would Spanish be the better route? I am 19 years old in college, but like to think ahead. Any Ideas? And how hard is it to learn Chinese from scratch?

I'm actually looking for the title of Joseph Heller's novel "Catch 22" and haven't had any luck.
I'd like to get a hold of this book.
I'm thinking it's something along the lines of “诡计二十二” (gui-3 ji-4).
(Catch in this case is not as in "to catch a ball", but rather, when something seems to good to be true or too easy, often there is a "catch". This catch is an unseen detail that makes the situation much less appealing than it initially seemed. For example: someone offers to sell you his new Mercedes for $500....that sounds too good to be true....what's the catch? The catch is that it's down at the bottom of this lake....just give me the money and it's yours!!)
