I’m going to be a sophomore in high school next year. I’m almost fluent in German and my mother language is English. I’m thinking about French or Spanish, but I don't want to do Japanese, Latin or Chinese? Which would be more useful and which may be easier for me to learn.

Hi will try to learn new language (Chinese or Japanese) and I have some questions. Which language is harder? And how much time I would spend learning it? If I would spend 1-2hours a day learning it. Thanks for your answers :)

I have no experience in learning Chinese whatsoever and want to start learning Chinese. What would be a good strategy and technique to reach fluency in learning Chinese? I am not afraid to make my study intensive. Do you know of any good books to use for learning Chinese? I wish to learn Chinese. Thank you for all of your help. Most detailed method gets points :) Thank you

Chinese pinyin is the chinese for beginners to get used to the tones and vocals etc then I can learn either mandarin simplified or traditional. does anyone know the colors in Chinese pinyin or where I can find them? Please write the translation of them (etc. in english and pinyin) or the URL to find them. I have searched in google bing and all but nothing comes up, or nothing useful anyway - because its not in pinyin!

旁 or 旁边 that is the question in Chinese?
I am a beginner Chinese learner. 旁 is not in the Chinese lesson where we are learning words like shang and li. I want to say "I am by the door" 我在门口边。 (This is how it is presented to us in the lesson. (actually 这个男人在大楼边.) OK, so I need to know the Chinese pinyin for 旁 (I used Japanese to write this word. It means "neighborhood" in Japanese.) And, I want to hear more about how to use this word in this situation. Thank you.

Languages come easy for me BUT I just can't make up my mind as to what to really learn for the first time! My childhood languages are Arabic and English, English being my best. I'm Egyptian.
PLEASE help me; really, I just can't pick what to learn. You'd be doing me a huge favor.
1. German, for travel and possible academics and business, though it's not really needed.
2. Swedish to go along with German, because it's related and convenient since it's pretty much the same as Danish and Norwegian--and for travel!
3. Greek, for pleasure travel and an introduction to the classics.
4. Latin, for pleasure, education in Romance languages and an introduction to the classics.
5. Spanish, for pleasure travel and the sheer number of speakers.
6. Russian, because I like the sound, it's not hard for me, and it's useful.
7. Hebrew, because I'm very interested in Israel and Jews.
8. Mandarin, because it's so hard (probably wouldn't be for me) and is the rarest language to know for a job (I'm thinking of money here).
9. Hindi/Urdu, for the same reason.
10. Or should I start with a hobbyist artificial language like Esperanto or (better) Interlingua, to make rapid progress and get good grounding in the generic vocabulary of European languages?
