Hey, I decided I might start learning Chinese the thing is that, some things don’t make sense to me. First of all, is pinyin ONLY written with English letters? So there are no symbols or marks or anything for pinyin, except that it’s written in Latin letters? Also, I read that simplified Chinese are more used than traditional Chinese. So, if I go to China, or any Chinese speaking country, or if I watch a movie about China, everything that's written in stores, streets, schools, books, EVERYTHING, is in simplified Chinese? Also, how does u read Chinese? Any website that could help me? Do u just learn chinese by MEMORIZING what each symbol is? and what about writing? it seems to me like it would take me like 5 hours to only draw ONE symbol and if i see a random symbol, how do i know how to pronounce it? and how do i know what it means? Any online Chinese dictionaries?

For those of you who know or have heard multiple Chinese dialects, which one(s) do you think is most beautiful-sounding?

I am home schooled and the program i do doesnt have chinese, plus i wouldnt get it cuz it isnt very good program... so i was thinking maybe roseta stone but thats a bit expensive. So if you know of any good language learning programs that have chinese please let me know!

Mandarin test tomorrow! I'm so confused. HELP?There is a test tomorrow and one part asks you to distinguish the Chinese characters 的, 地, and 得 and it's filling in the blank. I'm SO CONFUSED on when to use which. I used to know the difference between the Chinese characters 的 and 得. The first is possessive and the 2nd is whatever else. But now they throw in the new de, 地 and I'm SO LOST!!! HELP ME 地 is like he spoke loudly (adverb) --> ta shuo de hen da sheng but isnt 得 also an adverb??? like he learned Chinese quickly --> ta xue zhong wen xue de hen kuai I know the last de is possessive like "some flowers are red" you 的 hua shi hong 的... But how is RED something the flower possesses?? I'M SO LOST!!!!

And i don't have much trouble learning pin yin. But I am stuck, unable to go further until I learn Chinese characters. Any tips of how to learn Chinese characters faster?

Whenever I look it up on the interent, they give me different symbols and i dont want to put the wrong symbol on it and think it means something else. Also, is it two symbols or just one?
