I have already taken three years of college-level Chinese. Due to my interest in classical languages (I also know Latin, Ancient Greek, Classical Arabic, and a little bit of Classical Persian), I'd like to learn some Classical Chinese (文言文). My Chinese teachers told me that most resources for Classical Chinese are only in Chinese. Does anyone know of any English-language resources for learning Classical Chinese?

I would like to visit Xinjiang. The province is very beautiful. There are nice mountains to go to. I would go during the summer, when it's not cold. I'd take the bus around there. I'd also like to visit Yunnan. There is also mountains here. I would like to go on boats. I hear the people are very nice. How do I ask a waiter "What do you reccommend?" or something along those lines of what they think is good. Also, when addressing a server, is it more common to use "你" or "您"?

Teachers, what are your recommendations for textbooks that will help me learn mandarin? I have taken 3 YEARS of mandarin already, but I would like to improve my conversational/grammer/vocab skills of course.

My boyfriend is Chinese and he talks in his sleep. He just said something which I think mean "what are you reading" because I think I have heard him use the same phrase to say the same thing before. I don't know exactly how to spell the Chinese words, but I think it spells either "ni kan qu ma" or "ni kan xue ma". How do I say the Chinese words for "what are you reading?" I just wanna be able to show off to him when he wakes up and tell him I understood: P

I plan to learn at least nine languages in my hopefully long lifetime. Would it be reasonable to devote 10 years into studying each language? I am a fan of languages and I have many on my to-learn list. My time is, however, limited so it's better I choose one or two. Which one of the following would you recommend? (Not only in terms of usefulness but also of linguistic interest): Russian, Mandarin Chinese, Norwegian, Georgian, Italian, And French.

I'm 16, and I really want to take Chinese. I don't have it at my school, but I was thinking of taking it outside of school. How much are Chinese classes usually, and is it really hard to learn?
