I'm going to be a high school -hopefully- history teacher. I am a Spanish native speaker, but have some trouble reading and writing. I was thinking Spanish would be better, but I find it absolutely boring -_- I took some Chinese in high school and am really super interested in learning it in college. The thing with Spanish is that I can get certified or something like bilingual and it would help getting hired since there aren't a lot of jobs for history teachers in my area (inner city). What do you all think?

I have decided to study Mandarin Chinese, but where I currently live there are no Chinese native speakers. Should I look for a teacher, or try to study Chinese using audio tapes and DVD's? I'm leaning towards the audiotapes, because then I can study Chinese in my own time and on my own schedule. On the other hand, I think it will be harder and perhaps take longer. What do you think?
