What are the differences between 号 and日? why sometimes when somebody ask time, can be answered with says 现在九点, but also can added with 钟 (刚好九点钟= It's 9 o'clock). ???

I know that in Chinese verbs are not conjugated, so I just need the verb. List as many as you know and their English translation.

Tomorrow I'm going to one of my student's birthday parties (I taught three Chinese teenagers how to speak basic English) but their parents don't speak ANY English whatsoever. this is for my own personal education im curious as to how close i am to translating this correctly anyone out there who has the time to translate this it is much appreciated. Alright here it is: I went to Seattle for my holiday because I have family and friends that live there as well as a house. I lived in Seattle before I moved to Bei Jing this is why I frequently visit. I stayed in Seattle for three weeks at my old house. During this time I saw many old friends, snowboarded and family members from australia came and visited. My grandmother and grandfather on my mother side came from sydney to share christmas with us. An aunt and uncle also stayed for a few weeks in our house with us. My eldest sister came with her boyfriend on christmas. Both of them already live America. There are mountains to snowboard on within 30 minutes of my house. My favorite part of my holiday was seeing my old friends. Many of them can drive which made it easy to see a lot of them. Christmas and New Years were also fun with my family.

I'm an ABC, but Mandarin is my fourth language. My parents are Cantonese, so I know they have an accent too. So if they tried to teach me proper Chinese, it would be like an Italian guy trying to teach an Indian guy how to speak proper English. (I imagine the results won't be spectacular). So is there anyone whose family is from Beijing, or otherwise knows that he or she speaks perfect Mandarin, who would like to help me with my accent on Skype?

so i have started to learn mandarin chinese cause my parents know it and i feel ashamed cause i am 14 and full chinese. so i know all the basics like hello, this that, love, goodbye, how are you, long time no see, all that stuff. but i was wondering why is there so many mandarin words for one word for english equivalent, like for run there is zou and pao, how do i know which to use? can you give me a list of words that have multiple mandarin words for 1 english word like run and hurt? i dont know which to use and it is killing me! thanks!
