Isn't it that the widely spoken language is "Chinese"? What are the benefits in learning the English language?

If i send an item hand written in Mandarin Chinese, would it reach the buyer? I sell on eBay, and for the first time ever, someone brought an item from me from china. The problem is that the order details is in Mandarin Chinese so i was wondering if i had written back the address in Mandarin Chinese, would the buyer receive the item... i don't have any printer to print out the writings so i don't really know what to do, but i was thinking of copying the address by rewriting it in Mandarin Chinese, which is something i have never done before. I tried to make contact with the buyer, but he hasn’t been responding to my mails, which means he probably doesn't understand English. Languages come easy for me BUT I just can't make up my mind as to what to really learn for the first time! My childhood languages are Arabic and English, English being my best. I'm Egyptian. PLEASE help me; really, I just can't pick what to learn. You'd be doing me a huge favor. 1. German, for travel and possible academics and business, though it's not really needed. 2. Swedish to go along with German, because it's related and convenient since it's pretty much the same as Danish and Norwegian--and for travel! 3. Greek, for pleasure travel and an introduction to the classics. 4. Latin, for pleasure, education in Romance languages and an introduction to the classics. 5. Spanish, for pleasure travel and the sheer number of speakers. 6. Russian, because I like the sound, it's not hard for me, and it's useful. 7. Hebrew, because I'm very interested in Israel and Jews. 8. Mandarin, because it's so hard (probably wouldn't be for me) and is the rarest language to know for a job (I'm thinking of money here). 9. Hindi/Urdu, for the same reason. 10. Or should I start with a hobbyist artificial language like Esperanto or (better) Interlingua, to make rapid progress and get good grounding in the generic vocabulary of European languages?

Chinese is spoken by over 700 million native speakers, and once you get into the Second language speakers it hits a little of one billion. Now, seeing how Mandarin and the many other Chinese languages tend to be condensed into the China, why do people feel that it is a language to learn, unless you plan on moving there? Also, from the Business point of view, unless your working in the factories is doing small time business in China, they will speak English, and excellently well since must likely you will be dealing with highly educated people. You have to understand how conflicted I am, ALL of these choices seem equally good to me right now. = (Could I get different suggestions?

Right now I’m attempting to learn Spanish, but my mom keeps telling me that later the language to learn will be Mandarin Chinese...I see her point and why she would think that but I would like more opinions. What do you think would be the language worth learning? I'm still going to keep on learning Spanish but after that I want to try to learn another that's why Id like to figure out what language I should learn next though I know its my choice I want some ideas first....Oh and another thing what might be some of the best ways to approach learning a different language?

Hey guys. Now that I have some more time again I am proposing to learn a new language. My native language is German(I live in Germany) and my second language is English which I can speak on a pretty decent level. The third language I learned is Latin (4years). I don't really know which language would be worthwhile to learn. I was flirting with Italian and Mandarin Chinese. Italian should not be too hard to learn because of my German and Latin knowledge. Mandarin is just a very interesting language especially now, that China is emerging so much. I would be open to other languages as well. Do you guys have any idea for me which language to learn and where to start? Thanks!

THOSE THAT SPEAK DON'T KNOW, THOSE THAT KNOW DON'T SPEAK. I have been pondering this for quite some time and would like to know your take of this.

For example Ni xiang xianzai gen wo yi qi qu jiudian chi wufan me = Would you like to eat lunch with me now at the hotel? Could it be phrased "Xianzai zai jiudian ni xiang gen wo yi qi chi wufan ma?" And does the "qu juidian" mean "at the hotel" or do you have to say "zai jiudian" ? What's the difference?

I have taken both languages in high school, but now, I can only pick one to take in college. So, in your personal opinion, which should I drop and which should I continue taking? Which would be more useful? People have told me that French is a dying language, but still, I'd like to hear more opinions on this. It would be great if you could explain your answer, but you don't have to...

I'm mainly interested in French, Spanish, Chinese, and maybe Japanese. PLEASE don't give me links to download something or watch videos. My bandwidth on my internet is ridiculous, and can hardly go to text-based sites without going over. I'm mostly looking into Rosetta Stone, and they look very good, but cheaper is obviously better. ^^; Unless, of course, you could link me to a reliable site that sells them a bit cheaper would be great.
