Would Chinese learning benefit my future if I want to do business internationally, or would Spanish be the better route? I am 19 years old in college, but like to think ahead. Any Ideas? And how hard is it to learn Chinese from scratch?

I was just wondering if pinyin is the mandarin Chinese in the English alphabet without the characters. Does it mean the same thing as the Chinese characters? It is easier for English speaker to learn Chinese?

I've always liked both Chinese and Japanese languages. As it is, I watch a ton of anime on a regular basis, but I'm currently learning Chinese in college. I'm wondering what kind of media there is out there that is in Chinese which I could use as a learning aid. Something that would appeal to male youth, not necessarily soap operas with bad acting or children's cartoons. What's out there?

im trying to create my own cover for my ipod and i want to put life on the back in Chinese. Whenever I look it up on the interent, they give me different symbols and i dont want to put the wrong symbol on it and think it means something else. Also, is it two symbols or just one? And if it is two, is there a way I can just put one part of the symbol and it still mean life? Thanx
