So, i'm Chinese-american, but as I was young, i learned a bit of Chinese from my grandma, who I guess either taught me wrong, or had an accent. everyone always complains when I speak Chinese, saying I sound Taiwanese, and or just plain american and that I say everything wrong. so here's my question. How can I learn Chinese pronunciation better? I don't understand the tones for pinyin, they all sound alike for me, can someone give me a quick lesson, or point me in the direction I want to go to learn better pronunciation? I want to be also able to have an accent, so that when I go to Taiwan next year, they won't know i'm from America...

I need help translating this English phrase into Mandarin Chinese. I realize there are a plethora of online translators but not everything transcribes correctly.
So I know there are both traditional and simplified ways of doing this. If someone could translate:
"Love knows no boundaries" into both traditional and simplified Mandarin Chinese it would be very helpful! Also, if someone could supply the Chinese characters for this quote I would highly
appreciate it!
Please no jokers giving me a fake translation. Save my time and yours because I'll be double checking it as best I can with an online translator.
Thanks!

Tomorrow I'm going to one of my student's birthday parties (I taught three Chinese teenagers how to speak basic English) but their parents don't speak ANY English whatsoever. There MAY be someone who can translate back and forth, but I doubt it. I need help with very basic Chinese.
I can say 我的名字是 Gabbie and 你好吗?, thank you and that's about it.
All I REALLY need to know is how to say.

I'm having trouble understanding this short Chinese sentence. I'm sure it says something about suffering or sad people. I would appreciate it if someone who speaks Chinese could translate this for me completely, since online translators are often wrong. Thanks for the help :)

Everyone tells me the "L" sound is not used in Chinese. But there is a Nickelodeon kid's show called "Ni Hao, Kai-Lan," and they seem to pronounce the L like well, L. xD I don't get it... Maybe it's just a rolled R that sounds like an L...? I would like to ask a person who speaks Chinese language, but I don't know anyone!

this is for my own personal education im curious as to how close i am to translating this correctly anyone out there who has the time to translate this it is much appreciated. Alright here it is:
I went to Seattle for my holiday because I have family and friends that live there as well as a house. I lived in Seattle before I moved to Bei Jing this is why I frequently visit. I stayed in Seattle for three weeks at my old house. During this time I saw many old friends, snowboarded and family members from australia came and visited. My grandmother and grandfather on my mother side came from sydney to share christmas with us. An aunt and uncle also stayed for a few weeks in our house with us. My eldest sister came with her boyfriend on christmas. Both of them already live America. There are mountains to snowboard on within 30 minutes of my house. My favorite part of my holiday was seeing my old friends. Many of them can drive which made it easy to see a lot of them. Christmas and New Years were also fun with my family.
