I know in daily Chinese if I wanted to say January 1st, 2009 I would say 二零零九年一月一日. However, if I wanted to say Monday, January 1st, 2009, would I say 二零零九年一月一日星期一 or 二零零九年一月星期一一日？

My girl is Chinese and she wants me to find out what this means. Its a game we play since i speak to her is Spanish she speaks to me in Mandarin Chinese. It doesn't hurt to cheat just a little.. Please.. I got no idea what this means.

I don’t know anything about Chinese names. I want to know if there is any Chinese name that sounds similar to “Minalga.” So far the best Chinese name I've come up with is Mi-Nao, but I have no idea whether it's actually a real Chinese name. For example, my chinese book says "Do your mother and father both work" = "Ni mama he ni baba dou gongzuo ma?" BUT "Is that your older brother" you say "Na shi ni de gege ma" -- why only use "de" in the second instance?

I'm keep reading about the different forms/dialects of Chinese that is spoken in China. I was thinking on taking up Mandarin Chinese, but I'm not sure if I will be able to communicate with people from all over the country, since I love to travel all through out the area. Can someone give me some advice, tips, directions, and help with this problem? Also, could you also give me links to where I can buy Chinese learning material or links to different torrents which can be of some help? If this is of any help, I am also fluent in German, Dutch, Spanish, Russian, and French, next to my native tongue of English. Even though I grew up with German being spoken around me. I would also like to add that I would like to learn to read the language too, since I'm big into World Studies and History.

I can write Chinese character to pin yin by setting the language bar. But my question is, when I type Chinese character by input from pinyin, I want to show both character Chinese AND also the pinyin bellow the character?

I am currently working on a story which has got quite a few Chinese conversations in it. Hello. I'm a 15 year old sophomore in the US, and I plan to learn Chinese in college, Specifically, Mandarin language. I'd like to begin to learn Chinese stroke patterns and how to properly write Chinese characters, even if I don't know their meaning. I feel that by doing this, it won't be such a difficult task as it would be if I were learning from scratch in college. Could anyone recommend me some good media? Money is not a factor. Thanks.
