I was trying to write a story in Chinese last week, and for the life of me I can't remember why I wrote suoyi houlai. So I was writing: Ta hen nanguo, suoyi houlai le mai yizhi houzi. Which should translate to: "she was very sad, so she bought (1 animal) monkey. but I still don't remember why I wrote suoyi houlai..what doe it mean?

I want to learn mandarin but unfortunately I can't afford course. I know I can learn it online but i'd like to eventually speak it fluently and i'm not sure if I can do that by learning it online. So any sites you suggest? Also suggest some langauges I should learn. I live in Toronto, Canada. Lots of people speak mandarin here so it would be useful.

I know tones and basic pinyin, but im am stuck on what i should focus on first. Should i focus on the 1chinese characters and develop my vocab 2 study grammar 3 or just more pinyin?

well, in two weeks I have a Chinese (Mandarin) exam/ essay and I have to handwrite 200-300 characters/words with only a Chinese dictionary in one 70 minute lesson.... my problem is I can recognize the characters, and recognize the pronunciation.... i just can't remember how to actually write them... so how long would it take to memorize how to write 250 characters? and how can I? In English when someone sneezes, the people around may say "bless you". In Russian language they say "byd zdarov" which means have good health and many more examples in other languages. But in chinese I asked my class teacher what to say when one sneezes, nobody seems to know. Please help me. What do I say when someone sitting next to me sneezes?
