I'm not sure about how good I exactly am at Chinese and I would prefer not to have a live chat as I do not have a webcam of speakers and can't really afford it at time time. I can speak a decent conversation at the very least but am having the most trouble on writing Chinese. Thank you.

this is for my own personal education im curious as to how close i am to translating this correctly anyone out there who has the time to translate this it is much appreciated. Alright here it is:
I went to Seattle for my holiday because I have family and friends that live there as well as a house. I lived in Seattle before I moved to Bei Jing this is why I frequently visit. I stayed in Seattle for three weeks at my old house. During this time I saw many old friends, snowboarded and family members from australia came and visited. My grandmother and grandfather on my mother side came from sydney to share christmas with us. An aunt and uncle also stayed for a few weeks in our house with us. My eldest sister came with her boyfriend on christmas. Both of them already live America. There are mountains to snowboard on within 30 minutes of my house. My favorite part of my holiday was seeing my old friends. Many of them can drive which made it easy to see a lot of them. Christmas and New Years were also fun with my family.

Hi! So I'm very interested in learning Mandarin Chinese. I think it's a beautiful language, and because it's so popular, it would be useful to learn it. My only problem is, I have a high-schoolers budget, which means that I can't afford something like the Rosetta Stone software. Do any of you know something similar, but at around £20? Thank you x

Poor communication or poor online etiquette can lead to a misunderstanding in any language, and knowing that a lot of Chinese characters have the same meaning and depend on the tone of your voice to express what is being said, is online communication more difficult using traditional chinese characters?

Hi guys.
I was talking to someone and they told me that you can get a Visa to study Chinese for say half a year at a Taiwanese university. Someone else then told me that you can get a scholarship. When I asked for the details, they said it's all in a post on E-Chinese learning.
However, my numerous searches for this post have come unfruitful. So... Can you redirect me to this post, or alternatively tell me How and if the above is possible.
Thanks or your help.

In China, Red is an important color for the New Year and they use firecrackers to celebrate. Western New Year is celebrated also with firecrackers. In China, Valentine's Day is celebrated different also. In China, Lanterns are very popular for Valentine's Day. It is celebrated usually by being with the family and having a nice dinner. Finally, people go outside and play.
