I am currently working on a story which has got quite a few Chinese conversations in it. I need someone to translate a few English sentences into Chinese, but not Chinese pinyin (e.g. 'ni hao' and 'xie xie'). if possible, could my sentences be translated in the mainland tongue (I don’t know whether it is mandarin or Cantonese)? The sentences I need the Chinese translation are: "please help me. my head hurts." "give me food. I am hungry." "I don’t like you. Take me home." "I’m scared. take me home." "I hate you. I hate this place. I don’t want to stay here. Please take me back home." any and all help with be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Hello. I'm a 15 year old sophomore in the US, and I plan to learn Chinese in college, Specifically, Mandarin language. I'd like to begin to learn Chinese stroke patterns and how to properly write Chinese characters, even if I don't know their meaning. I feel that by doing this, it won't be such a difficult task as it would be if I were learning from scratch in college. Could anyone recommend me some good media? Money is not a factor. Thanks.

What’s the best book you can suggest for each language? I've read "Japanese: The Easy Way" by Karen Sandness and "Speak E-Z Chinese". If anyone knows these books can you tell me your comments about them?

For my school, I need to take 2 years of 1 language and 4 of another. I'm taking 4 of Russian, and it's very easy to me. But I don't know if I should take 2 of Chinese or Latin. If you don't think I should take either, my school also offers Japanese (which i took a boring year of), Spanish (which everyone takes), French (which I hate), German (which would be fun but a lot of people take it), and Arabic.

Today in school was the course selection sheets for next year. I'm in 10th grade and I can't decide if I want to take Spanish 3 (I had Spanish 1 and currently in Spanish 2), or to learn Chinese 1. I always wanted to take Chinese ever since I don't even know. I never really wanted to take Spanish, my mom made me. I really don't want to waste Spanish because I got all A's in Spanish and I am very good at it. But I know I can take Chinese courses in college, but I want to learn Chinese now. I am so undecided that I will leave it up to the person who convinces me the most to change my future (future, Spanish hehe ;).

I was just wondering about how to learn Chinese by good ways, such as memorizing, and writing the symbols (forgot what they are called) also could you give me a short list (or however long you want) of Mandarin Chinese colors, ms., Mr. Mrs., hi, bye, why, I, you, we, etc. If you were American and Mandarin Chinese was your second language do you know how to learn Chinese effectively?

Or are there any more popular languages spoken in most countries? Just curious to know, and would appreciate your sincere opinions! :-))

The word "xi" in chinese means west the word "xie" in chinese means thanks do you pronounce them the same? Xie = She

For someone who grew up to the English language. I'm 18 years old, and wondering, for how long it will take at my age to learn Chinese (including common quotations and sayings).

I.e. a proper course or any materials; I am a beginner. Look for a low cost but excellent Chinese language programme that can take me up to a good level of Chinese language. Perhaps with options to progress further. Thank you very much!
