Not as a year, as a number on its own. The equivalent of "one thousand, nine hundred and nine," "nineteen hundred and nine," or "one nine zero nine" would be fine. Normally I'd just go the one nine zero nine route, but I'm not aware of how zero is dealt with.

Is "Dàshēngde" "大声的"还是"大声地"?
Also, is"一直"the correct character for "yìzhí"?
Yìzhí supposedly means "to keep on doing something"
Dàshēngde means "loudly"

The pin yin "Sh" is roughly the same as in english as in "shhhhh". And the vowel "i" in pin yin is pronounced "eee". I understand that the second tonal mark is a mid to high rising sound. So why isn't the word for 10 "Shí" pronounced "She" (ending with a high tonal inflection). Why is the "ee" sound turned into almost an "r" sound as in the word "shear"? Any help would be appreciated.

Dajia hao. I’m learning Chinese, recently, I got a question about the word “不.”
In the phrase “不好 (bu4hao3) not good,” “不” is the fourth tone, but in “不要 (bu2yao4) don’t,” “不” is the second tone.
Can you please tell me which is right?

I know in mandarin if two 3rd tones are together, then the first one changes to a 2nd tone. Do they have to be in the same word compound, or can be two separate words just next to each other? for example. 我想念你-wo3 xiang3nian2 ni3- i miss you. "wo" is not part of "xiangnian", but does "wo" change to a second tone?

I know that if you want to say, for instance, "I am in my kitchen", you would have to say "wo zai wo de chu fang li". However, sometimes I see sentences like this where the "li" has been omitted. Is this just a form of abbreviation, like leaving out "shi" (to be)?
Thanks in advance :)

Today, I write a sentence: jin1 tian1 wo3 qu4 chao1 shi4 mai4 le yi2 dai4 ping2 guo3.
I mean “today, I went the supermarket to buy a bag of apples.” But my Chinese teacher said there is a mistake in my sentence. Can you please help me to find it out?
Thanks.
