Let's say you see a Chinese character/word in the newspaper, which you have no idea how to pronounce... then how on earth would you go about looking that up in a dictionary?

I am living in Beijing, studying Chinese and my pronunciation is very bad on some key elements.
I can and am learning the tones, but the U with two dots over it, like is in the word for woman Nu ren, green- lu si, and emerald- da zu mu lu.
Are among the difficulties.
In the US we have, have much wood could a wood chuck chuck, if a wood chuck could chuck wood.
But I am not aware of anything in Chinese.

I like to watch E Channel. I only watch TV 3-4 days a week. I do watch the advertisements on television. I don’t watch foreign films on SBS. Unfortunately, even if I like to watch the Chinese Language news on SBS every morning at eight o’clock, I can’t because I have a job. I start work at seven in the morning. Listening to Chinese news will improve your spoken chinese.

I need a name for a fictional character and I'd like you to help me decide which of these titles sound more natural to a Chinese speaker:
1) 东方火龙 (Fire Dragon of the East)
2) 东方龙神 (Dragon Spirit of the East)
3) 东火龙神 (Eastern Fire Dragon Spirit)
Please tell me which one sounds more natural to you or if the translations are not right? Thanks.
