This question is for those who have used the new Practical Chinese Reader Book....I want to join this review contest but I'm not quite sure what to say.

Hiiiiiii everyone! I've wanted to learn Chinese fluently for a long time now, and this year my school offered Rosetta Stone as a class. So, I started the Mandarin Chinese course. If any of you know what Rosetta Stone is like you know it's not a very effective way to learn Chinese, unless you live with someone who can help you. So I have a few grammar questions. For example: zhe ge nan ren zai chi fan. I think this means: A man eating rice, or maybe The man eats rice? I'm not sure! please verify. Another example: yi ge ping guo. Could this mean: An Apple? I have many problems with this kind of thing in Chinese! /: hmmmm. Well sorry for the length of this question, and the lack of tone marks over the pinyin. Help would be appreciated. I don’t know anything about Chinese names. I want to know if there is any Chinese name that sounds similar to “Minalga.” So far the best Chinese name I've come up with is Mi-Nao, but I have no idea whether it's actually a real Chinese name. So, is Mi-Nao a real Chinese name? Does anybody have any suggestions for a suitable Chinese name?

This is like a speaking competition. I need to memorize the essay/story. Also, it has to be in Mandarin Chinese. The competition is around 1/20/10. By then i need to memorize it. The story can be about anything. It can be an essay, story, anything. I'm looking for something that takes about a minute or two to read. Nothing longer. Please respond soon. If you wrote a story and you wouldn't mind me using it then thats fine. Or if you know a good website that has essays listed that i can use, that would be fine too.
