Just how do I improve in general (writing, listening and speaking). I learn it at school, but I'm the only native English speaker in my class. So how do I improve my listening, writing and speaking? My reading is fine. I'm 16 (:

I am going to be taking begining mandarin in the winter and I personally have a difficult time with forgein languages. I am determained to do this, I have a tutor lined up to help me outside of class as well. My over a goal is to study abroad in China in a year or two. Any tips , techniques, excersizes, etc. to aid me in learning this very different language would be much appreciated!

Is it hard to learn Mandarin and will I be able to learn it? I am half Chinese and half White. I am 13 years old and I am taking Mandarin as my language in High School. Lastly, I might be going to Tiawan when I am 16 to learn Mandarin. Will I be able to learn the language and be fluent in it? Because, I heard that it is the hardest language to learn. I am a high school student right now i am a sophomore I am in french four honors right now in my school I know how to speak English, french, Hindi, Gujarati, Sanskrit, and Latin and i took two years of German but was not able to keep on going i can speak all these languages easily and i am a fast learner but rarely i cant pronounce a word in french rarely They are offering Chinese finally in my school and i was thinking about taking it because i has kinda of been my dream. but when i was ten my friend taught me a Chinese word grandmother and i had difficulty pronouncing it SO WILL IT BE HARD FOR ME TO LEARN CHINESE?!!!

well, in two weeks I have a Chinese (Mandarin) exam/ essay and I have to handwrite 200-300 characters/words with only a Chinese dictionary in one 70 minute lesson.... my problem is I can recognize the characters, and recognize the pronunciation.... i just can't remember how to actually write them... so how long would it take to memorize how to write 250 characters? and how can I? Thanks :)

I want to learn mandarin but unfortunately I can't afford course. I know I can learn it online but i'd like to eventually speak it fluently and i'm not sure if I can do that by learning it online. So any sites you suggest? Also suggest some langauges I should learn. I live in Toronto, Canada. Lots of people speak mandarin here so it would be useful.
